I
guess this is where I have to tell you who I am, what I stand for, where I work, etc... You've probably guessed that my name
is Ahcene and that I live in Algeria. I was born in a small village in Larbaa but I was brought up in a small town in
the north east of Algeria called Taher. It all began one day in October 1968 (if I say it that way then if you really want
to know how old I am you can work it out, plus it has the advantage for me that I don't have to find it every year to update
it). If you go to my Cool Links and visit my friend's site you
will find a link giving you more information about my home town. I was educated locally and finally got a License (that's
a High diploma that allows you to teach in high schools in Algeria) in English at the institute of Foreign languages in Constantine.
From there I finally got a job at a high school which meant having to move to In-Salah, not exactly where I wanted to be!
The job worked out well for a while but then got a bit stale so I decided to move to the north. It goes without saying that
the new job commands more dosh than the previous one, which has also enabled me to buy my car and build a new house in the
town where I now work.
I also started a business (the first of its kind in the town) an internet Café that used to
draw large audience then extended it to a library shop but this didn’t last for so long because I shut them down 4 years
later. I had a difficult choice either to quit the job as a teacher to run the business or to shut them down. It was hard
for me to do it because the business was successful but all it needed was perseverance and some patience. I lacked both of
them.
My
father died 35 years ago in a terrible accident in Paris where he used to live and work. My mother is still alive and she
lives with me in the same house in Taher, I am married with Soraya who is a the same
time a cousin of me and we have three children, Oumaima (10), Yusuf Islam (6) and Shihab
(2) . I have two brothers, Mahfoud and Mohamed. Mahfoud is the eldest. 56 years old married to Nora and they have 11 children.
He is a carpenter. Mohamed is 46 years old. He is married to Nassira and has 4 children. Mohamed used to
be a police officer but now he is unemployed.
One thing that is important to me is my Islamic faith. I think I do my
best to stick to my religion. I am not perfect but I try to attend the prayers in a local mosque on a daily basis. My dearest
dream is to visit the holy places of Islam which are Makah and Medina. This is not the first time I’ve tried to
set up a website, but this time I’ve tried to make it fun and informative. It will be inshallah constantly updated but
I wanted to start with something that didn't look too much like the cyberspace equivalent of a building site.
You
know those lists of questions you sometimes get sent which ask all sorts of personal questions, and then you are supposed
to send them back and to all your friends as well? Well, I used one or two as the basis for this, so if you want to find out
such things about me then look no further. I guess the next time I get one of those lists I could just point the sender here
thus avoiding the need to have to fill it out and send it back, but there again I wouldn't find out anything about the other
person......
